Beats Fit Pro could actually knock AirPods Pro off their throne for iPhone users

After being leaked in the ears of Kim Kardashian, the new Beats Fit Pro headphones have officially launched – available for purchase today in the US for $ 199 – and you’d think they were a laser missile targeting Apple’s AirPods Pro… if Beats were. It isn’t also, you know, owned by Apple.

The Beats Fit Pro are true wireless headphones with active noise cancellation and Apple’s H1 chip, which means they support all of the same useful iPhone-specific features such as quick pairing, l ‘automatic pairing with your other Apple devices, automatic switching between them, Find My support, audio sharing with other AirPods and Beats headphones … and, for the first time, Apple’s Adaptive EQ technology and head tracking for Spatial Audio.

This latest feature is especially exciting as a first for anything not named “AirPods”. It was introduced on AirPods Pro some time ago, then came to AirPods Max when it launched, and the newer AirPods (3rd gen) are the latest to include support. This means that the Beats Fit Pro support all of the same features as Apple’s AirPods Pro, which top our list of the best noise canceling headphones and the best wireless headphones for Apple users – except that the Fit Pro offers. longer battery life and exercise-proof construction and fit with the wing tip design.

And early reviews say the noise cancellation is top notch and the sound quality is actually better than AirPods Pro… that’s according to The Verge, but seems to be in line with the general verdict. And it charges with USB-C instead of Apple’s Lightning connector.

The inconvenients ? The Beats Fit Pro have a larger casing than the AirPods Pro, the headphones themselves are heavier and bigger (although they look pretty good in the ear overall), and there’s no wireless charging.

However, for $ 200, I can live with that quite happily. These are lower than the price of the AirPods Pro, but seem to offer additional versatility. The Sony WF-1000XM4 and Bose QuietComfort headphones should also address their needs …
